This is what most people get wrong about motivation and discipline.

Many experts classify people into one of two traits, motivated or disciplined. One, as they say, is fiery, passionate, and impulsive, often jumping right ahead into doing tasks that interest them. Motivated people are not the kind to do routine activities that wouldn't make them feel any more alive. The other type, the disciplined people, simply are better at doing repetitive, "boring" tasks. They say that these two are mutually exclusive. If you are motivated, you aren't disciplined, and vice versa.
I believe that both types of people are motivated. Of course, all of us have a reason for doing the things we do, right? But what separates these "motivated" and the "disciplined" is precisely the source that fuels their motivation.
Motivated people are often driven by short-term pleasure. They seek to be gratified as soon as they could possible be. These people seek to live life to the fullest, believing that their earthly journey is too short to be anything short of happy. And so, with this in mind, they are motivated by what will fulfill them in the spur of the moment. This is what fuels them to look for activities that will make them feel more alive.
The disciplined, on the other hand, are anchored on a deeper meaning for keeping their hands and hearts on seemingly mundane tasks. Most people who are disciplined believe that their present actions are simply pieces to a bigger puzzle that they will solve later in life. These are the kinds of people who see every thing that they do as part of a grand picture that they want to paint. They believe that their pain now shall never compare to the joy that they will feel later on in life.
At the end of the day, nobody really walks through life being completely right or wrong. Whether you are motivated or disciplined, I am 100% certain that you will be successful. But always bear in mind that it is you who will define your own success. Find your passion. Find what drives you. Seek what motivates you. And when you do, run towards your end goal at full speed.
